Referral

ETBCA provides information and referral service to the community residents. Through partnerships with other community-based organizations, City of Tampa and Hillsborough County, we can assist with the following services:

  • Bankruptcy Counseling: The pre-filing counseling session will enable consumers to fully understand the potential advantages, disadvantages of, and alternatives to, declaring bankruptcy before taking action.

  • Financial Assistance: Rent or mortgage assistance to prevent eviction or foreclosure, security deposit assistance to secure permanent housing, utility payments to prevent disconnection, prescription assistance, and other special needs. Assistance is determined on a case-by-case basis and is generally available only once a year.

Home Owners Rehab

First Time Home Buyers Program

Florida Housing’s First Time Homebuyer Program (FTHB) offers 30-year fixed interest rate mortgage loans to first time homebuyers through its network of participating lenders and lending institutions. However, if you are not a first time homebuyer, you may still be eligible for this program if you are purchasing a home in a federally designated targeted area, have not owned a home in the prior 3 years, or are a qualified Veteran. This program uses income and purchase price limits to determine eligibility. Additionally, a potential homebuyer must complete an 8-16 hour face to face homebuyer education class, be able to qualify for a mortgage, and have a minimum 620 FICO score. Borrowers are required to contribute a minimum of $500 of their own funds into the transaction (no gifts).  (cont..)
